Razzamatazz and all that JAZZ~ (said while using jazz hands of course)

So here'z the deal. I want to know how many other people out there have a favorite letter. I know lotso peeps have a favorite number but everyone thinks I am strange cuz i have a favorite letter. Can u guess what it iz? Seriously! I bet you haven't any idea whatsoever...but if you can guess I will give you hugz galore! It really iz the best letter ever! It gets all the best wordz. Honestly! It doez!

Come on now what's the buzz? Who wants to play? Guess! OH pleaze OH pleaze!?

I won't tell you all the great wordz till someone guessez what letter it iz! Then I shall go crazy! It also can be found in one of my favorite bible versez!

go!go!go!

just a little add on to Extraordinary...

I just wanted to say that my hubby was sitting next to me as I was typing my last blog. He knows he is a good cook and thankful I am able to do the stuf I do. In fact he loves that I get excited about power tools. Other girls like curling irons, I, on the other hand, get excited when Lowes has a sale on drills or saws! hee hee...Wonder if that stems from high school when my friends would tell me to calm down by sayin, "Settle down there chainsaw!" HA!

ANYWAY, I can be as girlie as the next girl when it's important. Otherwise, give me my overalls, a baseball cap, a toolbucket filled with duct tape and sheetrock screws and I am a happy camper...

Trust me...you don't really want me in the kitchen .

And btw my precious chef/bookkeeper husband is learning quickly to attack the other stuf too since we are in the middle of an "ongoing, ever in process, will it ever be finished" remodel of our 1905 Craftsman home.

"Extraordinary and Other Annoyances"

What is up with the english language? So many words, phrases and sayings that make me crazy! The one that makes me completely insane is "extraordinary"! It makes no sense at all! It is supposed to mean something incredible, amazing, different, unusual, special, etc. I mean come on! Break the word down. Extra ordinary. Wouldn't that mean extra boring? Super plain? Very normal? ummmm.....yeah.

Oh! I also had a reminder recently of another phrase of confusion. "Same difference". What? Is it the same or different? You tell me cuz I really don't know. And apparently since I have taken time to put it in a blog it must be extremely important to the future of the universe!

Here's one for ya. To fix something quickly with duct tape, staples or whatever...Do you call that jerry rigging, jury rigging or jimmy rigging? After a very long discussion on this matter the final answer is they are all correct! Crazy huh? In some parts of the country it's jury, referring to a jury in a courtroom that has been "fixed". Jerry rigging is said to be somehow related to the Germans in Word War II. But then where does jimmy rig come from? The guess is that in the south those who drive a GMC truck call them a jimmy or gimmy and know how to fix anything...

Point being, which one do you use? I really don't care other than I tend to be a person who can fix things with the most unusual tools and littlest amount of knowledge. A natural instinct if you will. I can't really cook but God blessed me with a husband who is a chef. Soooo...I do the sheetrock and electrical while he works magic in the kitchen.

I shall not continue for the hours it would take me to mention all of the english language issues that tick me off but I must make mention of just one more. You DO NOT shake your head yes or nod your head no! To shake ones head is a motion left to right to nod is an up and down motion...therefore it would be and IS nod your head yes and shake your head no...please. For the love of God and all that is holy get it right!

Whew! now that feels better. I must leave you however with my mother's classic and most hilarious faux pas. Whenever we would go out to eat or have a huge meal before us she would say "Let's eat ourselves into Bolivia." As opposed to the real saying, eat yourself into oblivion. Gotta love it!!!

Who's judging who? Or would that be whom?

It has come to my attention, more than ever recently, that we all judge one another. We even judge each other for judging others. The obvious things in our society, of course, are clothing, tattoos, piercings, the cars we drive or don't drive. On and on it goes. Are we too fat? Are we too thin? Why are we fat? Why are we thin? Why do we pierce or tattoo? Why is that person so sensitive? Why is that person so insensitive?

But the thing is, we don't ask why. We don't ever think "hmmm... is there a story here? Has something happened in this person's life to cause them to filter life the way they do?" No. We just make a snap judgment about people and it sticks. They become, in a sense, marked .

Recently I was privy to a situation involving total strangers. I will try to make it short but include all the details needed for you to follow me there.

A young boy of 12 years old was riding his bike with friends in a parking lot around 10 in the evening. His bike was much too small for him as they often are these days. Well at some point it got away from him and bumped into a car. No scratches but the man driving the car became enraged. He appeared to be in his early to mid 60's. The man leapt from his car and proceeded to grab the boy by his shirt and slap him violently across the face.

Two older teen boys, who had seen what was happening, ran to the aid of the young boy. At the same time a young man in his 20's called the police having also seen the altercation. He then became angry when the officer on the phone kept insisting he had been drinking. The older man got back in his car and it was assumed he was leaving the scene. He was simply reparking.

At this point the parents of the teens that stopped the fight came onto the scene and tried to calm everyone down. Making sure of course that the police had been notified.

The young man in his 20's was covered in tattoos and did look as if he had been drinking. Such was his outrage at the situation he may have beaten the older man himself for what he had done if the police hadn't arrived. He walked away from the older man's car disgusted and exclaimed sarcastically "Oh look he has a cross on his car. Nice! What a jerk!"

One of the mother's walked over to look and was saddened by the Christian bumper sticker that at this moment was NOT a testimonial of a loving God. She returned to the tatoo covered young man and said "Please don't judge Christ by what just happened and the sticker on his window. We are Christians and we stopped to help. Remember that please."

At that moment it was very easy to be angry at the man who lost his temper. How dare he hit that child? Any child! Let alone a total strangers child! What an idiot! What a creep What a horrible witness! Take that sticker of your car if you are going to be so hateful!!! On and on the thoughts might go. And did. But suddenly a thought struck one of the mother's...we don't know his story.

He could have lost his job today. Or worse, his wife may have died recently. Or who knows? Some grace thrown in that direction was also in order. Even as the 12 year old child stood off to the side crying and in shock, being comforted by one of the mom's, the man paced near his car. What was he thinking? No excuses for his behavior but at least some understanding maybe.

How many of us on any given day lose our tempers. Would we want an audience or a camera following us? I wouldn't. That's for sure. But that night to me was a huge reminder of so many things. Do not judge, love one another, stand up for injustice, be an example and so much more...

We carry the name of Christ wherever we go if we are believers. With that comes a lot of responsibility. We need to remember that. As far as judging one another. Shame on us. All of us do it. In big and small ways.  May we be found loving and encouraging others far more than judging and criticizing. We must ask ourselves if we are the only Jesus someone ever sees what do we want them to see...

What will be the lasting memory of THAT night?
